Don't let Terri Moss's easy smile, 5-foot-1, 108-pound frame or the fact that she's a grandmother fool you: This former undercover narcotics officer packs a serious punch. Literally. The Atlanta-based Moss, who's 45 and also known as "The Boss," is the Guinness Book of World Records holder as the oldest female boxing champion and competed as a top-ranked fighter for most of her career. Now retired, she runs a women's boxing fitness program at Decatur Boxing Club, trains fighters and runs Atlanta Corporate Fight Night, an amateur charity event. Carolinas Boxing Hall of Fame
H.A. (Humpy) Wheeler, Chairman Emeritus
Dear Friend,
This is to announce and invite you to an important press conference announcing the 2011 inductees to the Carolinas Boxing Hall of Fame and the unveiling of the new display section for memorabilia located behind the main ticket office of Bojangles Coliseum on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.
You will be highly impressed with the quality of the new display at the Bojangles Coliseum, 2700 East Independence Blvd. in East Charlotte. The Coliseum, as many will remember, was the scene of many great boxing matches including the Eusebio Pedroza-Bernard Taylor world featherweight championship in 1982 which ended in an exciting draw.
Again, the inductees this year reflect the rich history of boxing both amateur and professional in this area in the last 100 years.
We are expecting many members as well as other celebrities for this event. Refreshments will be served and the press conference will commence at 2:00 p.m. sharp.
Thanks,
H.A. (Humpy) Wheeler, Chairman Emeritus

Basaldua, 23, is outstanding Saturday. He boxes when he's expected to punch and punches when he's expected to box. At one juncture, he motions with his gloves, and it's subtle, inviting Lawrence to stop moving and fight.
The referee points to Basaldua and briefly halts the fight. In amateur boxing, you don't use your gloves to perform. You use them to punch.
"I was trying to get fans excited," Basaldua says.
He did and they were and his arm is up before the decision is announced.

MIKE BASALDUA began boxing when he was 14. He's had about 45 fights and won 35 of them.
When he was 19, he hit the wall, or the wall hit him. He took a three-year break. He had a son, Isaac, now 21/2. He got a job at Firehouse Subs. This fall, he returned.
"I see a more focused fighter," says Simpson.
Basaldua, 23, changed because his life did.
